St. Augustine, Florida
The nation’s oldest city. We spent an afternoon there and unfortunately it rained, actually it poured. Several shops sell an inexpensive rain cover which we all needed to purchase (unless you remember to bring an umbrella).
We strolled down the streets of many little shops, old buildings with thick walls teaming with history. The prices were reasonable which is refreshing when you have been to more than one city, old or new, that depends on tourists.
We spent the day with my sister in law and her husband who reside in Florida. We ate lunch at Pizza Time on Saint George Street. My in-laws who had moved from New York said it was the best and the owner was from Brooklyn. Actually the initial reason we went to St. Augustine was for the pizza but my sister in law knew I liked old cities and recommended St. Augustine.
The pizza was excellent and crust? Ah……perfect! Makes my mouth water just to remember the flavor.
We continued wandering through the streets and small intimate shops. All so very clean and the aromas coming from the restaurants and coffee shops were intoxicating, full and rich.
I definitely want go there again. Hopefully in a better month than February when the weather would be nicer and after taking a look through their events calendar. Planning for the entire day or two in St. Augustine would be well worth it. And I plan to go Pizza Time for another slice of heaven.
